It is the largest bay of Phuket and the principal boat anchorage. The bay is 11 kilometres south of the town. Chalong bay is very picturesque but not suitable for swimming. Boats can be chartered to go to some small island south of Phuket. A number of restaurants are on the road leading to the bay. Coral Island, Phuket Coral Island, or as known locally as Koh Hae, is a beautiful destination located nine kilometres southeast of Phuket. The island features two main beaches, Long Beach and Banana Beach.
